Art on Shipping Container Doors

Boxman Studios and Advent Coworking Team Up for Open Street 704

One of our core beliefs at Boxman is that public spaces should be designed and built to encourage community. So, when we were given the opportunity to partner with Advent Coworking and participate in the Charlotte event, Open Streets 704, we couldn’t wait to start brainstorming activation ideas.
Open Streets 704 powered by BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina is more than an event, it’s a movement! Open Streets’ mission is to answer several key questions facing our community:
How do we become neighbors in a culture where we are ALWAYS plugged in?
How do we improve our health?
How do we demonstrate to our leaders that there is a clear demand for more walkable and bikeable streets?
How do we offer equitable access to active living?
Open Streets 704 is a commitment to building community that extends beyond the event. Their goal is to get people to fall in love with walking and biking again, so they’ll consider doing it as a part of their everyday routine. Most of all Open Streets 704 is about FUN! It’s a way to reclaim our streets for people of all ages to play, explore, and enjoy.
Inspired by some artist painted doors that have hung in our lobby for the last 5 years, we decided to repurpose some of our unused materials to give our amazing community an opportunity to create something remarkable together.
So… we took these container doors…
Cleaned them up…
Set them here….
And waited.
Thank you times a million to Open Streets 704 for the amazing work you do to bring the Charlotte community together. And, thank you Advent Coworking for helping us bring this whole thing together and supplying paint, tarps, and your front yard!
