Dollhouse Paris: a miniature home as bachelor pad in Pigalle

Jean-Malo’s “garçonière” (bachelor pad) is a full-sized home (on a miniature scale) in the center of Paris (Pigalle). When he first bought the property, it was being used to store flowers for a local shop. He turned it into a cozy, custom home for one: he has a mini dishwasher, 2-burner stove, microwave oven (that you need a “phD to operate”) and a bed that “just fits” (he cut the end of it had a mattress made to measure).

wow!..what a find – and he did a great job converting the space into a home!..too bad, though, he didn't know about some of the creative 'lift-able' and moveable stairs designs that some of the tiny-house-on-wheels owners have come up with..then he wouldn't have to bother with unscrewing anything to get to what i think he said was a water heater(??).

but, oh, wow!: he has a darling little home in Paris! which i'm sure would be a hit on AirBnB if he ever decided to rent it out for short-term stays (is this a second home for him or his primary digs?? he said something about it being his "city" house vs. one in the suburbs and i wasn't sure what exactly he meant).

anyway, fun video!..i've had the pleasure of visiting Paris only once, so far, and look forward to spending time there again soon.

Oh, I could live there, easily. Only change I would make would be to add drawers in the steps leading upstairs, for added storage. 🙂

Such a cute space! Needs some color and a TV, though. I bet it still costs a fortune, though, since it's in Paris.

I don't like it. Not because it's small, but it lacks warmth. Walls mostly bare, and nothing living. He could put up more art, tapestries, plants or flowers. Something.

Didn't you read that French person's comment about the word "garçonnière"? It said: J'aurais honte d'utiliser ce mot.
Translated: I would be ashamed to use this word.

I would get a trundle bed for the bedroom: he would have more floor space up there. I would also get some kind of closet/armoire for the living room for storage. There are even some that have a folding table incorporated in them and a storage ottoman as a coffee table. There's hardly any storage space there. I guess it might not be that important to him.

Reasonable design. But gosh it's quite the bachelor pad. No flavor of decor. Sterile. Need some cozy things to make it homey.

Great house. I would have a slightly larger couch and a tv . For upstairs you could use a single murphy bed attached to the wall sideways. An additional storage unit would be great. I loved it. The host is also a nice young gentelman.

People keep commenting how plain it is. But he said it's just a place to sleep. His priorities are location and access to entertainment outside his house. And it's a perfect blank canvas for the next person.

He is definately a minimalist. I think i would need a few more cozy touches and decor to feel at home. It reminds me of my husband's place when i met him. He had only the bare minimal of things.

I'd trade the dishwasher for more storage. I mean how many dishes would one have to wash by hand. Right?

I love the architectural style of his Garconierre. I would have made it more dollhouse inside. But I appreciate his French sense of style in keeping with the neighbor hood.

Fascinating and adorable! Could use an electric fireplace which they make to fit most small apts/condos these days! That would really cozy that place up a bit…much needed for those very cold Parisian winters! I have one here in the states in New England in my condo apt and love it….it also heats up the place real nice! Merci beaucoup for sharing! Love it and je t'aime Paris, aussi!
