How to Make a Latte (Caffe Latte) | Perfect Coffee

My name is Mike Jones, and I’m a barista at Third Rail Coffee right by Washington Square Park in New York City. I’m going to teach you some basic coffee-making skills.

I’m going to show you how to make a Cafe Latte. Now at its most basic interpretation, a latte is just espresso with milk. Traditionally it will be 8 ounces to 12 ounces, some shops will go bigger than that, usually not too much smaller than 8 ounces though. You started off with around 2 ounces of espresso and the rest is milk that is steamed with just a tiny bit of air put into it. You don’t want it to be too foamy and also not too thin. So I’m going to go ahead, pull the shot, steam the milk and then pour. Alright, so we have our shot and the milk. You can see on the milk it, it has that nice sheen, good micro foam, and then when you swirl it you can see it sticks to the side a little bit, but not too much. A cappuccino would be frothier. Alright, and that is a Cafe Latte.

honestly as a young individual who has worked in a few different places I love the fact you clean the machines as you go. It shows a small but critical detail needed in the coffee making process and I want to highly commend you guys for it! keep making these and keep up the good work!

Mr coffee brand has $30 espresso machine with steamer. I use it all the time. Took me a while to get good at making foam but once you figure it it's hard to go back to regular coffee

On my little machine (keep in mind it's a little home machine that gets the job done but isn't anything fancy) when I pull the shot it comes out super fast, If I try to pull a single shot I get the ounce in like 10 seconds!! Please Help

I have an idea to make milk foam for latte. You will just shake a freah milk in a bottle or a tumbler 30mins after make a hole in the bottle (5holes) to seperate the thick foam from the thin.
