3D! Oh those kids in the 50s. When they could be fooled into seeing a movie with a terrible script just because it's in 3D. Good thing that could never happen today eh?

And they were probably right. What I find more remarkable is whether people were so unsophisticated as to fall for it. Like nobody really believed in men from mars did they? You can't blame HG Wells, well maybe you can, but didn't people even then know how inhospitable Mars really is? And as for the rest of the universe, didn't they know how far away the stars are? I mean come on!!!

We saw this as kids during the late night "Science Fiction Movie" program on our local TV station. We could never take it that seriously as we kept making "IT" jokes like:

    What is IT?
    Where is IT?
    Does IT have a girlfriend?
Does IT have a parking place?
Does IT know its fly is unzipped?
When is IT going to end?

strangely enough even Steven Spielberg said this somehow inpired his ideas for Close encounters of the third kind!1 it may not seem obvious but inspiration can come from the most unlikely of places!!

My mom took me to see this when it first came out and I was about three and a half years old. They handed out cardboard 3-D glasses with plastic lenses and the entire theater had people with those white-frame glasses. I remember the scene of the rock fall and the people in the first rows screaming because it looked like rocks were falling right on their heads. I went to see all these kinds of flics when I was a little kid, like Invaders From Mars.and The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms.

I'm so glad I happened upon this trailer. I could never find anyone who had seen the movie and sometimes thought I had imagined it way back in 1953 as a 5 year old.

Universal should put this movie on a 2D/3D blu-ray too like they did with the Creature From the Black Lagoon.

This is a good one, much better than most of that Era- it actually has a very plausible story. One of Harlan Ellison's stories, born out of wedlock? Me wonders, yes, me wonders……

I fucked the female lead in this garbage movie. It was 1972 when I was age 12 and she was a dam FINE cougar that let me eat my first pussy.
