Life On The Water In A Tiny House Boat

Combining the alluring freedom of both tiny house living and life on the water, this tiny floating house boat is an incredible alternative living solution.

Become a Living Big Patron:

Designed by Ian Ugarte in collaboration with architect Drew Heath, this tiny house boat, named the Arkiboat, was designed to be strong and lightweight, designed for a life at sea with open views to the surrounding environment, all with an architectural edge.

You can find our more about this tiny home on our website:

This small home is designed to be a fully functioning boat. It can travel at a decent speed and is comfortable for full time live-aboard life. It can be moored either on a swing mooring, or at a marina and is completely self contained with all the normal holding tanks. It’s also completely off-the-grid, generating it’s power from a solar system on the roof and capitalising on Australia’s high sunshine hours.

    I have few questions:
What happens to the solar panel when it rains?
How does the sewage system work in the bathroom?
How do you operate it when you sail and how can you stay safe from sea monsters?

Are we really making a big deal of the design, here? It's a box. It really doesn't look any different than many of the house boats we have seen dozens of times. It's nice, no doubt, but it isn't exactly ground-breaking.

I usually love these but I really felt this was just an advertisement for the guys houseboat building company. Plus for that price you wouldn’t be in a tiny house for the right reasons.

I dont like the security aspect of this house, its too inviting. Those railings should be sealed up with some strong opaque glass or plastic. I hope it doesn't storm where they have it. Also why is it only one level? Sad!

Way overpriced, those 2 outboards can be had for $10k including rigging. Everything else stated is about double what it should cost.

eh, that is a weekend getaway not a house. I say that because of the kids room is literally a closet compared to the parents master bedroom. I would feel guilty having a room that large vs my child's room, even with just 1. For a permanent residence at least.

This is extraordinary! Also not just less costly than a house but if you owned a house and wanted to buy a boat that size it would be insane. So to have a house AND boat for that price?? Unheard of!! And no I don't work for them lol I just thought they should take that into consideration to share with any potential buyer feeling uncertain about the price as this price is beautiful.

I really like the contraption on the roof to keep the birds from, urm, reducing the efficiency of the solar panels.

Do you design these concepts with wheels if you want to cross land ? Wouldnt that make more sense if their was the risk of the chosen lake drying out.. if not, why not? I mean, wouldnt that be the ultimate home…

If I lived in this I would have twin Yamaha XTO OFFSHORE 425hp outboards on the back of it and would see if I could make my house go 100mph lol.
Either those or twin Honda 250hp out boards, since honda's don't break.. See how efficient that could be..
Now i want this damn thing
