Top 10 Movies Banned in Britain

Top 10 Movies Banned in Britain
Some films were thrown out of British cinemas, and for a variety of reasons. For this list, we’re counting down famous movies which were banned in Britain at any point during their history. Expect horror, violence, gore, more violence and some majorly messed-up moments. From The Human Centipede to Resevoir Dogs, Freaks, The Exorcist, The Evil Dead, A Clockwork Orange and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, it’s all in.

several things wrong with this list
-Straw Dogs wasn't officially Rejected in 1984, the only official rejections came in 1999 because the company submitted a weird version which the BBFC deemed made it look like the girl was enjoying the rape scene
-the original release of The Last House on the Left on VHS was uncut – the censored version was indeed released in 2002 but that was the first time
-Cannibal Holocaust was never submitted for theatrical classification
-Texas Chainsaw Massacre was banned by the BBFC but some local councils approved it for release
-The Evil Dead wasn't officially banned – it was prosecuted but ultimately found not guilty

One man who is harsh to the British society based on his logic. His name was James Ferman, he was the longest chief censor of the BBFC from 1975 to 1999.

Were these films banned cause they were considered inappropriate at the time? I mean some classics films that were terrifying at the time are laughable now.

Some of these films were not technically banned per se. So I do not count many especially A Clockwork Orange to be a banned film in the UK, it was just withdrawn by the director.
