Band of Brothers is, in my humble opinion, the very best movie about WW2 as it shows the War and Easy company soldiers from pre-Normandy through to the end of the War. Not a movie you say just because it didn't go to the cinemas since it was what, like 17 hours long? It had the best writing, acting and production values of all the movies listed here. Also, it was based on fact and recorded history by the soldiers themselves.

Inglorious Basterds ahead of The Thin Red Line, Letters From Iwo Jima and Flags Of Our Fathers ?,. Just goes to show what a complete tool the person who made this list is. Inglourious Basters is a parody, and not a very good One at that. The Three films I named all piss all over it

Why did I know that Saving private ryan is at Nr. 1? The movie itself is good. But the story is so unrealistic.. Watch generation war. The story is so intensive that the movie was slpit up into three parts. You really feel how the people in the movie change during the war.

On a pure cinematic basis, this list misses the mark – Enemy at the Gates should easily be there. Battle of the Bulge was also excellent. I’m not sure how Kelly’s Heroes got a mention – it’s a fun movie, but WTF?

The #1 pick, Saving Private Ryan is overrated by a large margin due to the opening scene being seen to represent the entire movie – it’s ultimate message as a film is very misguided: Hanks saying that saving Ryan was the only worthwhile thing they’d do was laughable – these guys were fighting the global evil of Nazi Germany, and winning! But apparently that didn’t mean anything. Band of Brothers, though a mini-series is much better.
