The most pointless and absurd remake in cinematic history goes to Psycho. The original Psycho in no way needed a remake, not to mention a shot for shot remake with Vince fucking Vaughn as Norman Bates. What was even the point? *Edit * Also Ghostbusters 2016. That shit-heap had no business even being considered to be made. I almost completely forgot about that abomination. It's like my mind was trying to fight off the memory of it, like my immune system trying to fight off the flu. I'm so glad that Ghostbusters turned into shitty CGI and a queef joke, on top of mindless action. Thanks Sony!

The Thing is one of those films that just last. It's a timeless classic and just seeing some of the scenes you showed, scares me the way they scared me as a child. Personally I think John Carpenter's Thing is better than The Thing from Another World, but that's my opinion

Hitchcock's remake of his own film, The Man Who Knew Too Much, is considered a minor classic, but I prefer the original with Peter Lorre.

Airplane! is technically a remake of Zero Hour. Its release kick started a style of comedies still seen today. Plus most don't relize it's a remake. I'd say that's list worthy.
