Why Am I Skinny? | Eric Bandholz

Today Eric is explaining why he’s skinny, and why he doesn’t care.

At 6’5″ and 170 lbs, Eric explains that he’s always been an athlete and that at his height he would need an insane calorie surplus to pack on bulk weight, and he doesn’t see a need to consume excess resources for the sake of extra muscle mass.

Instead, he would rather spend time with his family, his business, and exercising to stay healthy. Eric also subscribers to CEO Strength – an exercise program that incorporates primarily body weight workouts; a perfect approach for him since he travels quite frequently and doesn’t want to have to find a gym everywhere he goes.

Eric insists that the goal of working out and being healthy is to be the best, most confident, and healthiest version of yourself you can be.

    I'm 6ft and weigh like 140. I've always been skinny as well. I eat pizza and other "unhealthy" foods but i never really gain wait

    beards go in and out of style but muscular body is classic i guess. i am also skinny but trying to change that. I also take soylent. being in college right now makes it hard to make ur own food so soylent is a blessing indeed.

    incase you ever want to bulk up buy "serious mass" on amazon. im 6'3 weighed 180 for years. a month in and im at 214 lbs. personally was tired of being a twig my whole life lol take care brotha

    Eric, one of the best ways yo grow a bit of muscle quickly, as well as extend your life here on earth a little longer is to do some intermittent fasting! More and more evidence every year, points towards eating less and life extension. It also releases huge amounts of growth hormone, which builds muscle…..Cheers from Canada P.S. You aren't skinny, unless your comparing to the average in the US and now in Canada, which are moderately overweight to severely obese!

    Being too muscular always makes you look up tight, and extremely muscular makes you look like you have zero self confidence. I guess thats just me. Its hard to look relaxed, and relaxed is cool and comfortable.

    Eric, you responded quite gracefully. Your body type is composed of elongated muscle fibers which are better suited to endurance activities more than bulk muscle strength activities. Maintaining muscle tone, flexibility, mobility, and general good health, is all that is necessary for anyone to strive for. Muscle gain is more innate for those who's bodies are composed of more mass of shortened muscle fibers to begin with, and who have time and drive to mutate that body mass beyond what is necessary for basic good health. Its merely a visual, as well as an art form on the mutated level, though is not conducive to optimum health and lifestyle. It is easy to see the obsession with mutated bodies our culture has developed by comparing the physiques of male dolls from previous decades to the present. These unnatural, non realistic, though achievable body mutations set many people up for failure when starting an exercise routine, if they allow comparisons to affect their self image too much.
    A simple analogy is that a zebra can never look like an elephant, though the zebra can be a damn good awesome zebra! Becoming a better version of one's self within natural achievable guidelines, is all anyone should expect!

    I agree with your first point "I like being skinny". Its good to be happy with your body but I don't agree with the other reasons. Let me become a fact-nazi for a bit 😀

    First of all protein builds muscles, not calories. Calories give you energy to lift. I can guess that you're probably eating enough protein each day to build muscle, but you're wasting it by not stressing muscles.

    Secondly, college sports and swimming don't build muscle, you need to hit the heavy weights.

    Thirdly, the rest of the reasons are excuses. There are bricklayers, both tall and short, in places like Africa that lay bricks everyday and are RIPPED. They eat just as much as you or even less. You might not be able to look like a bodybuilder but you might add some mass around your shoulders and arms.

    Fourthly, unless someone is the president of the US, I don't see how they can't dedicate 30 minutes of their life each day to improve themselves. 🙂

    I've got a similar body, not very muscular but actually well balanced and since I am rocking a full whale beard it kinda makes the appearance to others that it doens't match my body type. Well if you ask me, I feel confident with my body and I think that actually matters the most. If you would listen to every fella how you should be looking like than you will never be happy. Now this is not a excuse not to work out, you should work out if you want to but not to satisfy other people.

    How did you accept your self for being skinny and ignore people judgment ?? I'm skinny and I really do hate my body because of it. I'm sick of hearing people telling me I need to put weight on and my reply is that I do eat a lot of food and I still put nothing on, it's really upsetting when I hear people say that to me. How do you accept an ignore all of that ??
