Why do people love Cult Movies? – StoryBrain

It’s 2017, we’ve got a new logo, new partnerships, and we’re kicking things off with a viewer request! When I was first figuring out movies, I couldn’t understand why cult films like The Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Room, or the House of the Dead were so popular. It wasn’t until later that I figured out how people really reacted to them, with what I call emotional indiscretion.

Background music is Naraina from Kevin Macleod’s Incompetech Music Archive. Clips from the above films, Fame, Troy, Welchlabs, Socks the Llama, and more!

Do you know anything about what chemically happens in our body when we are watching a film ? i'd like to be less specific and say "when we are taken by the power of narrative" but im not sure if it means anything in english

I like it because it has a lot of classic horror and sci-fi references which I adore. And from this standpoint plot is very understandable, if you get the references.
Also because I like weird shit, weird people and catchy music. Was like that since I was a kid.
Also "don't dream it – be it" moral is close to me, cause I always dreamt of being someone instead of just doing stuff. I mean, I always been a little weird and I embraced it after watching this movie and people started to like me more.
For me it doesn't have anything to do with LGBT, I couldn't care less about them in general. It's just about embracing the weirdness for me.

ok, so we should expect a lot of people dont to like rocky horror then? the cult following would be something like 5-10% of the population and the rest to dislike it and dislike it quite a lot? and what would be appealing to non gay/transsexual folks who enjoy it?

As a huge cult fan of The Room, this didn't seem to really say anything significant to me (I haven't seen the others you mentioned so I won't comment on them, and that may be affecting my views since you mainly focused on Rocky Horror). I'm also not sure I have a sense of what your point is – something about group identity? This didn't really answer why The Room, for instance, is able to generate the meta-comedy that it does, how the creator's personality and the movie's badness combine to become a source of fun. I also felt like the metaphor with the llama was a bit contrived and confusing.

LGBT presence should mimic real life – not too much, just what's usual to see around. Or the overshoot can destroy our minds and future generations

I'm no SJW. I'm straight white male, member of the NRA, Christian, Republican…

    and a 58 timer.

Cult films are what they are because of the community. The film itself serves only as a seed for the fun.

What the hell does the lama have to do with it you say it eats anything it has no indisqussion about what it eats so the people who like cult movies have this too this makes no sense at all an your other point that we don't get saterfaction if the good guys don't win then what about empire strikes back I'm a good person but this is my favourite star wars film as is most other people's favourite so I have to be trans or gay to injoy this film nooooooo
